Thank you for attending another Sjögren's and Gut Care webinar 😉

Hello Reader!

Thank you for participating in today's webinar on histamine intolerance and the low-histamine diet. As promised, here's a summary of today's session.

Summary

The session aimed to educate on the factors that make an individual susceptible to histamine intolerance and the strategies to manage it.

I discussed the diagnosis and treatment of histamine intolerance, emphasizing that the diagnosis is primarily through clinical exclusion due to the limitations of objective and diagnostic tests.

The primary treatment is a low histamine diet, possibly supplemented with diamine oxidase (DAO) to support the breakdown of histamine at the gut level.

Larissa shared her experience with histamine intolerance and how it impacted her quality of life.

I also mentioned the importance of considering nutritional deficiencies before starting a low-histamine diet and the need for consultation with a healthcare provider.

The high histamine foods and the need to reintroduce foods gradually to assess individual tolerance was reviewed.

We also emphasized the importance of determining the root cause of histamine accumulation to manage symptoms effectively.

Lastly, we presented a sample low-histamine diet menu and mentioned that subscribers to this newsletter would receive a one-week low-histamine diet menu over the next week.

Before I forget, here is the link to Dr. Brent Goodman on Dysautonomia and Sjogren'. He briefly mentioned Mast Cell Activation Syndrome in Sjogren's during the Q&A session.

Next steps

  • The subscribers to this newsletter will receive a link to the recording, a list of high-histamine foods and a one-week low-histamine diet menu sample next week.

That what was part of my conversation with Andrea Hardy, RD, earlier this month about constipation, especially when you have an...
