What does the gut microbiome have to do with inflammation and joint health?

The gut microbiota is a complex community of microorganisms that reside in the digestive tract.

Their primary function is to break down indigestible dietary fibres through fermentation, producing Short-Chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs) such as acetate, propionate, and butyrate.

These SCFAs are essential for nourishing gut cells, regulating gut permeability, and managing mucosal inflammation.

Approximately 70-80% of the body's immune cells reside in the gastrointestinal tract, highlighting the importance of maintaining its integrity when living with inflammatory and autoimmune arthritis.

Emerging research indicates that dysbiosis often occurs before the diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren's disease, ankylosing spondylitis, and psoriatic arthritis.

Keep in mind that your gut microbiome is influenced by diet and other factors, such as age, genetics, environment, lifestyle, medications, and co-morbidities (other diseases).

In this challenge, we will focus on diet and lifestyle changes ☺️When your gut is in good shape, you'll likely experience:

✅ Improved digestion

✅ Better nutrient absorption

✅ A more resilient immune system

Plus, research also suggests that a healthy gut could even support clearer skin and a sharper mind. 🧠

Good news! You don't need to navigate this complex gut-joint connection alone ☺️👇🏽
